    That guy's a twat. Same guy that's over the "riced out rx8" page. Basically thinks he is god because he turbod his 8 before it was cool. If I'm honest tho, I don't like rx8club. The attitude there is very bad. Ask a question at all and get shot down because you didn't search through 10k+ threads that are all 12+ years old and from a time when people knew nothing about the car.     Definitely a weird experience and still continues to be a fun one. So back in 15 I picked my self up a really cheap rx8 for about 800. The plan was back then to get a four port and turbo it. That's still the plan now but it's just postponed a little. Anyway to skip a bit of context, I knew the engine had low comp and intended to rebuild it. Unfortunately I'd had low comp due to bearing failure and doner parts were needed. Managed to pick up a 6 port engine that was freshly rebuilt for 150, with a "slight oil consumption issue", That turned out to be an oil seal that had eaten its way into the midplate. Lucky the parts I needed were intact and there were two new and undamaged housing there for the taking. Lucky find really.. fast forward to Christmas just gone and I got the rebuild underway as it was the only time I get out of college. Manny late late night later and the engine was Finnished and put back in the car It now sits waiting for a map and a nct so I can start bedding in the seals. I know it's a short thread but unfortunately my full build thread is trapped on another forum that's been down for maintenance the last month. A few pics of the car as it sits now. Like the wiring for the Jap folding mirrors and the euro heated lenses. I have very few photos of that [emoji26]. Still.     I think the first thing I should catch up on is the engine build. Back during Xmas 2016 I finished this beauty off. Since then I have racked up over 11k miles so it's safe to say I couldn't be happier with the build. Added purple parts as well,. Before it was cool to do so (looking at you nic [emoji58][emoji28]) #hipster Also got a new fuel pump and installed that Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

    Well it's been a while since I was here [emoji28]. Plans have slightly changes since then. I'll have to go read through and see where I left off. [emoji25] There was a car for breaking that had an engine still in it. I bought it for the 6port stationary gears and when I got talking ti the mechanic that was breaking it he said it had been rebuilt recently but was burning alot if oil. When I opened it I found a badly damaged end plate and center plate but everything else was more or less new. I just got lucky I guess Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

    Engine wise it will be a battery relocate and an air intake for now. Body wise I'm going for a mazdatrix arch kit, some wide wheels. Probably rpf1's and then a dmac diffuser to tie the rear together. I'll need to sort the suspension out as well. Not too sure about that other than a respray or a Megan racing kit. I need to Finnish the 3" Mani back exhaust I have as well and reinforce the boot to take the wing.     mid summer rolled by and i decided it was finally time to rip the engine out so i could decide if i needed replacement parts with the rebuild kit. so up went the car and out popped the engine.its actually alot heavier than i thought and took a few of us to move it. but eventually it was over in my corner where i could start the strip.unfortunately when i did pull it apart i found bearing failure resulting in two worn rotor housings. luckily i found another engine for sale for cheap with a "slight bit of smoke" coming from the exhaust. since it was a 6-port version and i needed the stationary gears for my 4 port if i ever wanted it to rev past 8, i seems worth the money. took the 5 hour round trip that night and stripped it the next day. the car had been booked to be crushed by the previous owner which i though was weird at first but when i stripped the engine it was apparent he had just pumped about 3k into it only to have it fail after 3-5k miles . with only an end face damaged from the bad oil ring i got a set of brand new parts including, two new rotor housings, and a spare clutch.this also gave me two spare rotors for decorationand after a bit of cleaning they looked quite goodso while i was waiting for parts to arrive i started back on the spoiler.... and broke the window.. but found one at a local scrapyard so all was ok.. so i went back to trimming down the spoiler arms and im happy with how they turned outa week rolled by and in was still waiting for parts so out came the purple paint.. it was inevitable after all..then..parts arrived and ma exhaust came and goopy parts unfortunately the side seals were missing form the so while i was waiting for them to be sent out i started on the wiring loom. i wanted to move it from inside the engine bay to inside the fenders. there was room for it so it was just a matter of re-routing it through the available holes. to do this, i needed to pull out the dash and pass everything back through the firewall.the next step was to splice the wires going to the abs and extend them by about 1 foot. some of these were canbus and needed a different repair methodthe loom got moved into the light holes but it was still in its original position above the radiator. the drivers side needed very little work since the air pimp was removed.after i put the ecu back in the move started to take shape. next steps for hr engine bay will definitely be a battery relocate and a airbox delete so I have more room there and to top it off my Purely sticker arrived

    this might get a bit weird. bare with me... well its getting cold out and its this time of year that we really should show our kindness. so i decided to take a car in for the winter (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/IMG_20151018_141543_993_zpssff4bd2o.jpg.html)ive been looking at Mazdas for a while. i wanted a mx5 for my first car. but i wasn't aloud one.... so now that i have a bit of money saved i decided it was time to re-explore the market for a mazda. funny enough a mx5 is more expensive than one of these. :confused: so after about a month of looking and some saving here and there i found this. it needs an engine, but thats half the fun. (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/IMG_0478_zpsxbybrz9x.jpg.html) (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/IMG_0479_zps3qirnrwp.jpg.html)over all this easy mod freed up a bit of access space to the engine bay and really transformed the look of the engine. all my future mods will be a little bit easier now, and working with it will be just that bit nicer. definitely a mod i would recommend! (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/IMG_0481_zpsfstgbtb9.jpg.html) first job will be to clear a space in the shed and give it a wash. i have some boot struts that i will be putting onto the bonnet, just like the s2000. it will be a couple small mods till i have enough money to spend on the rebuild parts. also ill get it on the lift soon to check out the under body. it will need new discs and pads with a drive boot and some other small things, nothing too expensive i hope.. so next week i have a car test coming up for my a3 so most of today was devoted to making sure it will pass first time. this included a quick wash. the rims are looking nice again but i had a bit of free time this evening to work on the rex's corner, so with the help of a friend i started wiring in some new lights which will help me through these oncoming dark winter months... its basically an outdoor 10w LED bulb but they give a perfect white light i have 4 pointing at the car, 1 on each side and 2 at the bonnet. there is a fifth over the future work bench.. although it needs alot of tidying first before it can be used for anything. just a bit more work to be done before i start seriously stripping the car, i might have a look at the air box tomorrow and clean the mafmassive difference to the quality of the light though. now you can actually see the bonnet struts.... so another quick update. i had a few friends over during the weekend to play with all the goodies that arrived. my bc br coilover parts arrived for hte a3 so now i have the full kit, (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/16-11-2015/14474568799171_zpscdo2qpzl.jpg.html)but due to someone over tightening the locknut i cant get the wheel off :/ so the a3 will have to wait a while. on the bright side tho. it passed its test and the rx8's parts arrived so we fitted them, managing to destroy a new spark plug in the process.. still dont know how we done that..... but anyway with three new plugs, and one clean ish one, with new d585 coils and leads we got her going. and pretty easily too. we couldnt get it started when it was hot, but that could be a battery/ starter issue so ill be exploring those options first. over all though im very happy to finally have it running. next thing to do is buy shares in a fuel company.. (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/23-11-20105/IMG_20151121_1958231_zpszgow58pc.jpg.html)well.. yea the cat took those :confused:in other good news, i dropped my audi (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/23-11-20105/IMG_20151123_0856011_zpslhyvs47l.jpg.html) you would be seriously supprised at how well these cars handle with a proper suspension set up and some wide grippy tires!! so a very productive weekend i started working on a bracket for the coils. that took a lot longer than i thought it would, but cost me nothing so i cant complain. i even painted it red for power. I Managed to clear all the codes on the rex bar the coolant level sensor. took it for a spin and the car feels very dead. it idles rough, no power and is a bit slow to start. that and it wont rev past 7k... signs of a stuck secondary intake valve? looks like next weeks project will be to pull the valve and clean it, and to gut the cat [gutted the cat and got a few nice chunks from it. almost modern art had a small bit of free time during the weekend so i started fitting the bumper. im almost happy with it, i need to line it up in the center, work on the edges a bit and then secure it with brackets. (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/20-12-2015/IMG_20151220_165209_zpsqlqojg1m.jpg.html) (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/DVNNN/media/RX8/20-12-2015/IMG_20151220_165647_zpsry8irleq.jpg.html) seriously considering some rocket bunny lights the first update was that the drift wing finally arrived and dam is it big. decided to rest it on a tire and get an idea of how the car would look. the wings were off to i could get an idea of how much space was hidden behind the fenders. love the rough and ready look it had tho.i got a glimpse of what my sticker would look like for rexy. still needs a few tweaks thoalso my suspension arrived. ive used BC BR's in the past before and i love them so when i seen a set for sale it was an instant snatch and grab And with that, the College semester ended and ironically i had even less time to work on the car. the day after my last exam i started work and only returned home on weekends. still though it was money in the bank and thus, car parts could be bought. while i was waiting for parts to arrive i bought some steal bar and made up some brackets and arms. and then bolting it in place. ill have to reinforce this area later but for now its good.with the arms in place i could start working on the height for the wing. and im vary tempted to go full battle stance... i had a quick look at the side skirts too, but ive decided to wait till im putting the arch extensions on aswell. that wat i can flare the rear of the skirts out to meet the flares. somewhere here i managed to get time to install some 585-r coils and a Mishimoto rad.....

  19. I've been having an issue lately with my idle when hot. It drops off then revs up and returns to about 800. A few seconds later it will dip and rise again. I've checked the leads and coils when cold and hot. It doesn't miss and the pulse is strong. The car suffers from hot start issues but this isn't the type of low compression idle I'd expect. The dip in rpm is then followed by the ignition system retarding to -13 and the car picks itself back up. The other issue is the high revs. There is plenty of torque in the mid range but past 5500 it feels dead and past 6 is pointless. The redline feels like it is at 7000 and starts decreasing when you hit it. The revs drop even though I'm still at WOT. Anyone got any ideas?? Is Low compression causing this? A bad fuel pump? Something else? The ssv works. The airbox is clean and I cleaned the maf three weeks ago. The alternator is good. The cat has been gutted. It was partly blocked. The only other weird thing is the fuel pump stays on with the ignition turned on but with the engine off. It's like it isn't pressurising properly or is that normal on rx8's??     Slightly up beside the ssv there is another actuator. What's that for? The idle dosent matter if ac is on or off. It seems to hapen regardless. I'll try get around to making a vid tomorrow. I've been doing along with floods today Sent from my ONE A2003 using Tapatalk

    Hi everyone, my name is Davin, just signed up here after picking up my first rx8 on sat. i have no experience of rotarys to speak of, but im keen to learn. if you could tell me what to look out for with this engine id appreciate it. ive been told it needs a rebuild. and id say it does, but with no compression test done, i cant say for sure. ive worked on cars for years and im not afraid of getting my hands dirty so i have no problems there. would anyone recommend a good site for getting a rebuild kit? its a 2005 190hhp model. ill get a few pics up later
