  • Differences in rx7 and rx8 13b

As above bit off a new bee to these engines What's the main differences between the 13b rx7 and the 13 b rx8 engines as a lot off components seam to be similar ??

    Nearly everything is different,
Housings, rx7 has peripheral port exhaust.
Side plates, rx8 has side plate exhaust.
Rotors, rx8 higher compression and the rotor gears aren't as strong as the rx7. Also have more oil control rings I think than the 7.
Oil pan, engine mount position is different for both cars.
    Crank sensor,
    Intake manifold,
    Exhaust manifold,
turbos, rx7 has twin, rx8 has none.

You can use an rx8 eccentric shaft in an rx7 engine as it is lighter but the entire rotating assembly needs to be balanced. I'm using a steel front cover gasket on my rx7 instead of the paper one for the rx7. Needed a bit of modification however to fit correctly.
